1% Chance Is Enough to Make It 100%
Even a tiny hope can grow a giant dream
I want to let you in on a little secret. At times, a 1% chance is all you need. Just 1%. It seems small, may be even silly. But I believe a 1% chance can be everything.
I can imagine what you’re thinking, “1%? That’s so not a chance to win!” But hold on. Let’s think about this. If you believe that chance to be true, believe it to be everything, and you keep going, that 1% can be 100%.
Small Chances Can Lead to Big Wins
Imagine it as planting a seed as a metaphor. A seed is very small, similar to a 1% chance. However, if you give it some water, nurture it, and time, it grows into a big tree. The same goes for chances.
A 1% chance means it is a possibility. If it is possible, it is worth the pursuit. No one climbs a mountain in one step. They start with one small step. That step could be your 1% step..
Many Winners Started With a “No”
Do you know how many legends received “no” before they received “yes”? Quite a few.
Walt Disney was told he had no imagination. Oprah was told she was not made for TV. J.K. Rowling was rejected 12 times prior to getting a yes for Harry Potter. They all persevered.
They didn’t wait for and 100% chance. They took the 1% chance and ran with it.
Why Most People Miss Their Chance
The facts are these: Most people wait to take action until everything is perfect. They want to be absolutely sure. The thing is… perfect never comes.
In the meantime, someone else takes that 1% and creates something awesome. Don’t wait for “someday.” “Someday” is not a day of the week.
Start with what you have, right now. Even if that’s only a little bit.
I’ve Taken the 1% Road Too
There are times when I’ve said to myself, “This probably isn’t going to work.” Yet, I went ahead and tried. Sometimes I failed. Sometimes I bombed. (Don’t worry! I’m fine.) But each time I tried, I got a little better.
And sometimes, that 1% chance became something real. Something exciting. Something I never thought I would do.
You Don’t Need a Lot — You Just Need to Start
Believe in something, even in the smallest departure, and pursue it. It only takes small action to begin a big venture. Don’t let the odds seem low scare you. Take pride in the fact that you made an attempt.
Don’t look for 100 chances. Look for one. And if you give that one your all, you might just be able to make it 100%.
Final Thought (and a Friendly Nudge)
When you see an opportunity that is small, don’t dismiss it as too little. Don’t say, “that’s not enough.” Say, “that’s all I need.” Take the shot, write the book, apply for the job, ask the question. Because hey — it might be 1%, but with heart, it can go a long way.
And hey: 1% is better than 0%.
