Why We Unlucky
Why We Unlucky
Subtitle: Did I Step on a Lucky Bug? Oops!
Have you ever experienced that frightening feeling, that bad luck forgot your name? Trust me, I know what you mean. A few times, I think bad luck caught sight of me then waved and ran in the opposite direction. But that raises the question — why is it we feel unlucky? Is it something real? Or is it all just in our minds?
Let’s explore this together. However, if you’re reading this, maybe your luck is already turning for the better!
What Is Luck Anyway?
Luck is when something good or bad happens for no apparent reason. It’s like flipping a coin. On heads, you win; on tails, you trip over your shoelace in front of your crush. Ouch. Some people always seem to be lucky. Other people… like me, can spill their juice on their homework twice in one day. But… does that make us truly unlucky?
Bad Luck Is Real… Kinda
Yeah, some times bad stuff happens. Missing the bus or losing your homework, for example. But bad luck is not always a curse. Most of the time, bad luck is just life being a hot mess.
And you know what? Everybody gets their shot at it. Even the lucky people step on LEGOs. Seriously. I asked.
Why We Feel Unlucky
Here is the tricky part. Our brains are drama queens. They like to cling on and remember the bad stuff and forget the good stuff and when the painful event occurs we can easily believe, “Nothing ever goes right for me!” for example, we can remember the day we lost lunch money, but one doesn’t remember the ten days that they didn’t lost lunch money.
That’s the brain!
We Compare Too Much
We see other people and think, “Gee, they have it so easy!” But we don’t get to see their bad days. We only see their highlights.
It’s like watching a movie that cuts out all the bloopers. You miss the chaos on the cutting room floor.
